Woven and Embroidered Badges
Our custom-made badges are created from your rough sketches or design ideas, or from your artwork, but we are also happy to adapt many of our badges to meet your requirements.
Badges are supplied ready for sewing onto garments, but they can also have a velcro backing, or an iron-on glue backing.
Woven badges
Woven badges are our most popular line and are ideal for designs with small lettering and fine detail. They can have up to 8 colour threads—or up to twelve for a small additional cost—and can be almost any shape. The design is woven into the fabric of the badge, resulting in a smooth, even surface.
Simple shapes, such as circles or oblongs, are usually finished with an over-lock stitched, or merrowed, border. More complex shapes are laser-cut to shape to seal the outer edge of the design, preventing the threads from fraying and resulting in a flatter border than an over-locked finish.
Embroidered badges
For our embroidered badges, your design is embroidered onto a backing material, creating a raised look and tactile feel. Badges are laser-cut to shape to seal the thread ends, and are then usually finished with a machine-stitched border. Alternatively, we can supply them with a slightly more prominent overstitched, or merrowed, border.

About Nottingham Badges
Nottingham Badges began trading in Nottingham’s Lace Market in 1977, supplying screenprinted tee-shirts, sweatshirts, and badges. In a few years, as the company grew, sales of garments and badges were formed into separate businesses. We now supply bespoke woven and embroidered badges to a wide customer base, while screenprinting and sales of Fruit of the Loom leisurewear are managed by our sister company, Nottingham ScreenPrints.
As a small, family-run business, we provide a prompt and personal service and aim to supply quality badges at competitive prices. Our design studio will send the final badge design for your approval but we now out-source production to an overseas supplier whose state-of-the-art equipment enables us to supply badges at very keen prices.
